Chic Colours Trending this Autumn / Winter 2024-25
As a Personal Stylist in Geneva, Switzerland, it’s always great fun discovering the new colour trends as we transition towards the next season of the year. We’re soon going to be moving away from the cottons & linens of summer towards the trench coats and heavier textured fabrics for this Autumn Winter 2024 – 2025 so let’s dive into the latest trends that we love here at Chic Couleurs.
The colours trending this Autumn/Winter 2024 – 25 are a mixture of seasonal colours and classic neutrals. You’ll be glad to know that it’s not exclusively warm Autumnal colours or cool Winter colours, but there is something for everyone, regardless of your undertone.
You might not be familiar with Pantone, but every year the colourful gurus at Pantone invent fabulous names for their colours and neutrals. Here at Chic Couleurs we don’t worry about the name of a colour, because we focus more on its characteristics (e.g. warm vs cool, bright vs soft, light vs deep).
Regardless of the name you give to a colour, the most important information you’ll need to know is whether it complements your dominant, secondary and tertiary colouring type, and then you’ll also need to consider how to wear that colour (high vs low contrast).

You’ll most likely have a number of these colours or neutrals in your wardrobe already (or, in the storage space you use for your out of season clothes, if you’re short on wardrobe space like us). If you don’t have the exact shade of “Cherry Tomato” but you have another similar shade of Red in your wardrobe, you can of course re-use whatever most closely resembles those colours without having to purchase a whole new wardrobe in the Pantone shades.
Before delving into purchasing any of the latest trends, I always invite my clients to edit their wardrobe first. It might be a while since you’ve had your knitwear and heavier textured items to hand so the best place to start is always to consider what you already own and perhaps, you’ll have forgotten some of the great items you already own that you’ll be pleasantly surprised to rediscover.
Over the years, we’ve come to notice that certain timeless classics are wardrobe staples, but while you still like the individual pieces, you may feel bored with the outfits you’re creating because you always combine items in the same way. Not to worry, we’ve got plenty of inspiration for new colour combinations and outfits that you may not have considered yet, but that you can easily recreate from your existing wardrobe.
Chic Couleurs Top 5 Autumn / Winter 2024 – 2025 Trends
Here at Chic Couleurs, we keep on top of the latest trends without buying into them all. We focus heavily on the “Personal” aspect of “Personal Style” so if any of the trends you see in the shops or on the street this Autumn / Winter 2024 – 2025, are not for you, that’s absolutely OK.
We prefer timeless trends rather than fleeting seasonal ones, so you may already have at least some of the items from our TOP 5 Autumn / Winter 2024 – 2025 trends.
1. Tweeds / Herringbone / Knitwear: think typical English Countryside style. This trend just keeps coming back time and time again, and we love it! Think the British Royal Family in Balmoral or a country get away to the Cotswolds and you’ve probably already got an image in your mind of dark denim, chunky knits, tweed jackets, suede boots and shades of olive green, camel and navy blue, perfect to accompany you in those Autumnal strolls through rolling fields before snuggling in front of a fire with a hot chocolate.
2. Après-ski style: think nostalgic ski jumpers and knits.
3. Collar details / interesting necklines (great for Triangle / Pear body shapes)
4. Animal Prints: this is a year-round trend that just keeps on giving so much joy to us here at Chic Couleurs. We love the latest trend of combining the animal print with pops of red, especially red shoes or bags.
5. Burgundy: this colour is a trend of its own this Autumn / Winter 2024 – 2025 with shades of red wine being a favourite colour amongst those who typically favour neutral colour palettes because of its demure and chic appearance.
